(A/N: in this you're both 12 years old, but like the innocent type, not the type in today's generation…-.-'')
(Alfred's POV)
I watched her slump in her desk as she buried her face into her arms nuzzling her sleeves slightly. I furrowed my eyebrows realizing what was wrong, ____ was upset. Sure I'm stating the obvious but this wasn't an exception. _____ was never and I repeat- NEVER upset! She's always happy and smiling, like me! The Hero! B-but never mind that! ____'s the topic here.
I walked up to her, painting on my awesome heroic smile and sat across from her. "Hey ____!!!" I cheered happily. She looked slowly peeked up from the desk with her glossy (e/c) eyes . "Hi…" she mumbled before looking back down. I frowned. What happened to a 'HEY ALFIE!' that I would always get? What happened to the big hugs that she'd give me that usually failed because she was soo tiny? Gee- I sort of missed them.
I tilted my head as I leaned down on my hands planting my elbows on the desk with a 'whack'. "Aw man~ What's wrong ____? Huh? Tell meeeee!" I whined childishly. She sighed heavily as she sat up, bending back slightly like her back hurt. She leaned forward to sit normally -her still looking down. "U-Uh…y'know my kitty?" she said fidgeting her fingers together. 'Uh oh,' I thought.
I nodded slowly bracing for what she was going to be telling me. She closed her eyes tight. "U-Uhm….sh-she ran away…" she said slowly placing her head back on the desk. I was pretty surprised that she wasn't crying right now. I knew that ____ loved her kitty, plus she was super sensitive about animals. I gave a sympathetic look seeing as if she wouldn't say anything.
Soon our teacher walked in. "Alright kids, please take your seats." she ordered. I walked back to my desk taking another look at ____. She still had her head down having the teacher call her name countless times for her to pay attention. Something else that wasn't like her. Man, having Kitty gone must've really hurt her.
After school I ran over to ____ as she turned to head towards her street. "Hey ____, wanna come play video games at my house? I asked Arthur if it was okay!" I said smiling brightly. She looked at me and smiled. "N-No thank you. I, uh, mom wants me home today." she said giving a small wave then trotting off down her street. I stood there watching her leave. I had this really icky feeling in my stomach now. That smile was fake. I don't know what it was but I guess I can ask Artie if he knows. Plus, WHY WOULD SHE SAY NO TO VIDEO GAMES?!
(Me: Oh Alfred…*face palm*)
As soon as I got home I yelled for Arthur, my older brother.
"ARTIEEEE!" I called slamming the door behind me loudly indicating that I got home. I heard him mumble something before walking into the foyer. "What is it? And stop slamming the god damn bloody door! You'll break it again!" he complained -as usual. I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Back on what I was talking about." I said completely ignoring what he said. He huffed then looked at me with a slight frown. "Yes, what is it that you want?" he asked sounding pretty pissed. My eyes brightened. "Right! You see there's this girl…"
After telling him the whole story about _____ and why she was soo upset…
Arthur nodded and placed his cup down on the saucer. "I see, sounds like your little girlfriend is really torn up about her cat." he said bringing the cup back up to his lips. I felt my face heat up for some reason as I shot up from my seat. "Dude! She's not my girlfriend!" I said trying to scowl at him but oddly failing. He gave a loud chuckle before standing and walking over to the sink rinsing off his dishes.
"Fine fine, my only advice to help cheer up your 'friend' is to try whatever you can to make her smile for real." he advised turning to me drying his hands off with a cloth. He leaned against the counter. "Girls like it when a guy makes her smile when she's down." he said as if he was some professional of women or something.
I crooked my brow. "Dude, how do you know? You've never been with a girl--WAIT! I got it! You've been into Francis's girly movies haven't you?!!" I laughed running from the kitchen knowing he was going to totally be pissed at what I said. And as if on cue, he was.
"ALFRED YOU WANKER I'VE NEV-- wait a minute. 'Francis's girly mo?-- ALFRED HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THOSE?!"
-Small time skip~ -
I took Arthur's advice, well, actually I ended up calling Kiku, because he seems to know about girls, or whatever he learns from his anime stuff, and about the situation that ___ was in. He sort of gave me a stupid suggestion but I really didn't have a choice because I really didn't have a clue on what to do -plus, ____ was really into anime too so this MUST work!
I started running towards ____'s house when I suddenly came across the local park that separated ____'s street from mine. To actually some surprise, she was there sitting on the bench!
I ran up to her. "Yo! ____!" I called waving my arm to her. She looked up from her lap and rubbed her face with her sleeve. Whoa, was she crying?! I hurried my running skidding just in front of her sadly getting a crap load of sand in my runners. I looked down at her. "H-Hey…Alfred." she said looking up and smiling. I huffed looking at that fake smile again, this time with dry tears added into the mix. Man, she WAS torn up. Plus, she called me ALFRED! Not Al, or Allie or Alfie of Alfro, oh about that last one, DON'T ask. Please don't.
Never the less I do what I was told. "_____, guess what?" I asked trying to sound excited. She gave me a puzzled look. "What?" she asked. I did my hero pose. "The hero… is here to cheer you up!" I announced loudly. She frowned leaning her elbows on her knees and her face on her hands. "Al, there's nothing that can cheer me up.." she mumbled. I smirked and tilted down some. "Oh really?" I laughed. She looked up at me then back down and nodded. "…really." I stood back up straight crossing my arms. "You sure? Bet I can make you smile!" I chuckled. She sat up straight, leaning fully on the bench also crossing her arms. "Come at me bro." she challenged.
Haha, Challenge Accepted! Cue internet meme!
I turned for a minute shuffling the kitty ears from my jacket and clipping them into my hair. 'Kiku, this better work or else I'm kicking your--' I turned around showing her my 'look'. "TADAAA!" I sang. ______ stared at me shocked and what I think is called a blush. She remained silent though. I started to feel kinda awkward, I mean, here I am in the middle of the park with a girl, wearing kitty ears.
Suddenly….she…..giggled!
I snapped back into reality seeing a smile on her face as she wrapped her arms around her stomach having a total giggle fest! I smiled watching her. I don't know why, but I liked it when she giggled like that, even her smile was pretty great. Looks like I did my job.
(-6 years later-)
We sat on the couch watching the credits to the 'Green Lantern' movie that I just bought. Suddenly, my awesome girlfriend, _____, shifted from leaning on my shoulder and looking at me. "Hey Alfie?" he asked in her cute tone. I slurped my drink loudly before looking at her. "Yeah, babe?" I asked placing the McD's cup down on the end table. She tilted her head. "Back then, when I lost my cat, why'd you decide to wear kitty ears?" she asked. I was pretty shocked that she asked. I mean, I knew she knew that Kiku told me to do something related to this but I forgot that she didn't know that the kitty ears where MY idea.
I scratched the back of my head nervously. "Well because…I uh, just wanted to show you that because that kitty left you...." I trailed off reached into the end table drawer where I (awkwardly) kept those exactly kitty ears, and placed them in my hair. "I wanted to show you that this kitty would never leave you!" I laughed proudly. She did that whole pink-face thing again before hugging me. "Aw Alfred~~" she sang snuggling her head on my chest. "You're such a cheese ball!" she giggled. I smiled hearing that giggle again.
"No, I'm your kitty, babe!"
~End~
SO FULL OF MOE-KAWAII-DESU-NESS!
I loved it.
